Cymraeg Walker's Taxi Scheme
New Nantlle Ridge travel scheme launched
The Nantlle Ridge travel scheme provides transportation at a budget price is now available for people walking along Nantlle Ridge. With no bus service currently available for those wishing to enjoy the popular walk, Snowdonia Green Key established a pioneering taxi service available to walkers.
Following consultation with the local community, the Ramblers Association and Clwb Mynydda Cymru, it was decided that a taxi service would provide a sustainable and effective method of transport. Instead of having to take two cars to walk the Nantlle Ridge, you can now for example, park one car at Talysarn or Penygroes, call the taxi which will take you to the start of the walk in Rhyd Ddu and then walk back to your car. The taxi will cost for 1-4 people £5 flat flare, 5 or more people just £1 each, Snowdonia Green Key and Bws Gwynedd will subsidise the rest of the fare. This service will only be available between Rhyd-Ddu, Talysarn and Penygroes.
The scheme has been supported by the Snowdonia Green Key partners, Gwynedd Council, Conwy County Borough Council, Snowdonia National Park Authority, Visit Wales, Department of Enterprise Innovation and Networks and the Countryside Council for Wales. The aim of the project is to provide a more environmentally friendly means of transportation for those who are keen to walk the Nantlle Ridge when required. If successful the Patnership could extend the scheme and out to other areas of Gwynedd and Conwy. The scheme will be available for members of the public between 7am and 7pm, by calling Huw’s Taxis on (01286) 676767 or 07967 881903.
